Trinidad Chambliss's journey from Ferris State to Ole Miss is
a story of patience and a rise from Division II to the SEC. A dual-threat quarterback, he spent three years at Ferris State, including a redshirt year, before becoming a full-time starter in 2024 where he had an explosive season. He then transferred to Ole Miss for the 2025 season, where he was able to compete for playing time, ultimately making a significant impact early in the season. Ironically Blake Wilson our photographer went to Ferris State and has covered football for the last 5 years, Essentially watching this all happen under his lens.
Oxford, M.S. – In a night that ended with a loss to No. 13 Texas A&M, No. 16 Ole Miss played in front of a crowd of 10,008 fans in the Pavilion.
The No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels lost to No. 13 Texas A&M by a three-point shot by A&M’s Manny Obaskei, giving the Aggies a 1 point lead with 13 seconds left. The Rebels were unable to put themselves back on top with a lead. The Aggies defeated the Rebels 63-62.
Head coach Chris Beard and his team were able to fight throughout the whole game, even leading by 8 points going into the two minute mark of the game. Having the strength of his team and a packed Pavilion, a win was on the horizon. Not on the Aggies watch, the team went on a 10-2 run to close out the game.
Ole Miss’ Malik Dia, Sean Pedulla, Jaylen Murray, and Jaemyn Brakefield all scored in double figures. Texas A&M’s Zhuric Phelps, Pharrel Payne, and Manny Obaskei scored in double figures as well.
Ole Miss has now lost two SEC games, the first being to Mississippi St. Both losses were similar, both teams being in the AP’s Top 25 and coming down to the last possessions of the game.
Coach Beard was apologetic to the fans about the loss, saying, “I just apologize to everyone who came to the game.”
No. 16 Ole Miss is going to be taking No. 22 Missouri on the Tigers’ home court on Saturday, January 25th. The two teams are set to tip-off at 5pm.
